Meet your Natural State Doulas Team!

Abigail Mino
Owner, Doula, Childbirth Educator

Abigail's passion for birthwork began over 10 years ago, during the pregnancy of her oldest son. The education and support she and her husband received transformed the way she gave birth, and how she nurtures her family. This experience led to Abigail's passion for supporting women and families, building community, and providing empowering childbirth education.

When she isn't teaching a class or headed to a lactation visit, you can find Abigail homeschooling her brood of five (yes, she knows that's a lot!), leading in her local MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) group, spending time with her husband of 11 years, or curled up in a coffee shop with a good book.

Services Offered: Childbirth education, Birth Doula, Advanced VBAC Doula, Lactation Support

Jac Start
Birth and Postpartum Doula

Jac grew up in a family of women, with a mother who worked in Labor and Delivery. With birth being a common dinner table discussion, her passion started at a young age. But it wasn’t until later in her adult life, inspired by the book "Birth Matters," that she began her journey to becoming a Doula. Jac feels driven to help spread knowledge and positive encouragement to women; uplifting them to reclaim their power throughout pregnancy, birth, and parenthood.

If not submerged in birth one way or the other, Jac can be found trekking her way to a river or at home getting creative and making elaborate costumes, finding any excuse to dress up with her fiancé and slew of furry animals.

Services Offered: Birth and Postpartum Doula

A Little More About Us!

Prior to birthwork, what was your favorite past  job?

Abbi: Before having children, I worked as a private nanny and I loved becoming part of the family as the children grew. I also spent a few years as a preschool teacher, and I developed a new respect for educators. They work hard!

Jac: For 14 years, I worked in animal welfare. The last job I had in that industry, I was a Humane Officer down in New Orleans. There was never a boring day. I am also Esthetician and even though being a Doula is my first priority, I love the crossover of self-care and pampering that I get to apply to both jobs.

Dream travel location?

Jac:  Okay my nerd is going to shine through on this one but going to New Zealand for the Lord of the Rings hike definitely sounds dreamy to me.

That, or exploring Italy via moped.

(If anyone in New Zealand needs a doula, Jac and Abbi are ready to travel!)

Abbi: I would love to go on a Castles of the World tour some day! And spend extended time in Ireland, preferably with a nice stack of books and limitless tea.

On a Saturday morning, you can usually find me...

Abbi: Making pancakes, wrangling children, and starting a house project with my husband. (Unless I'm at a birth)
Jac: Coffee in hand, stretching out morning snuggles with my honey, our dog and three cats for as long as I possibly can.

Cats or Dogs?

Jac: Do I have to pick one!? My heart is borderline!

Or maybe I just don’t want to say I’m a dog person cause I don’t want to betray the cat person that I used to be 😂

Abbi: It's a tough choice, but cats win this one for me. We have 4 cats at the moment, because we apparently can't foster animals without adopting them.

Your current favorite Podcasts or Books?

Abbi: I'm currently enjoying  "What the Wind Knows" and "The Read-Aloud Family."  My go-to podcast choices: "The Birth Hour" and "Office Ladies"

Podcasts: Birthful and 1619

Books: Anything by Lisa Lister
